Girrga (Native Bee) Jendaya Stewart Bursary

Congratulations Kaiya O'Brien

Kaiya is the the very first recipient of the Girrga Bursary.

Having participated in multiple cultural burns on Birpai Country over the past six months and through this hands-on work, Kaiya continues to deepen her understanding of cultural fire practices and Country-led land care.

What inspires Kaiya is the opportunity to expand cultural knowledge around caring for Country and sustainable practices.

Kaiya is currently studying a Certificate III in Land Conservation with TAFE. Receiving the Girrga Bursary will support her to look at additional training pathways beyond TAFE, allowing her to broaden her skills, strengthen her cultural practice, and continue walking a path of caring for Country in ways that honour both knowledge systems and future generations.

Congratulations Kaiya 🌿

Jendaya Stewart Girrga (Native Bee) Bursary
